The alarm didn't ring
Almost always a system setting rather than the alarm itself. Check, in order:
- Notifications are allowed for ProofAlarm, with lock screen alerts turned on.
- Battery optimisation is off for ProofAlarm. On Android, aggressive battery saving can stop a backgrounded app waking up on time; exclude ProofAlarm from it. On iPhone, turn Low Power Mode off overnight.
- Both volumes are up. Ringer and alerts volume controls the alarm itself, and media volume controls the sound that keeps going during a challenge. They are separate sliders, and a muted media volume is the single most common cause of a quiet alarm.
- Focus or Do Not Disturb is not set to silence the app overnight.
- The phone was not powered off. No app can ring on a phone that is switched off.
The photo wasn't recognised
Object hunt uses your phone's built-in image recognition, which needs a reasonably clear view of the object:
- Turn a light on. Recognition in near-darkness is unreliable.
- Fill more of the frame with the object and hold steady for a moment before capturing.
- Photograph the object itself rather than a picture of one on a screen.
- Shoot at a straightforward angle, without the object half behind something else.
- If a particular object never works in your home, remove it from your list in the object hunt settings and use ones that do.
Subscription and billing
All payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google. We cannot charge your card, change your plan, or issue a refund on your behalf.
- Manage or cancel on iPhone: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions
- Manage or cancel on Android: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions
- Request a refund from Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Paid but the app still asks you to subscribe: open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you are signed in to the same store account you paid with.
Read the terms for how renewals work, and the privacy policy for what the app does and does not collect.
